Alphabet
This was one of my favourite briefs at Stockport College. The project challenged us to create a unique set of nine letterforms connected by a consistent theme. Inspired by an artist who used fence grids to create typography that interacted with its surroundings, I explored how letterforms could be constructed within a fence-like structure. The result was a series of characters that connected the foreground typography with the environment behind them.

Letterforms
I selected the letters B, J, C, A, Z, O, H, X, and F to create the final typographic set. Constructing the letterforms was the most challenging part of the project, as each character had to work within the constraints of the fence grid while remaining clear and recognisable. The photographs were taken during winter, and capturing the finer details became increasingly difficult as the cold weather set in. Spending long periods outdoors made the process physically demanding, but it ultimately helped produce a unique and authentic set of letterforms.

9 Letter Alphabet
Seeing the completed set of nine letterforms together was one of the most rewarding parts of the project. While each letter works successfully as an individual piece, they become much stronger when presented as a complete collection. The 3×3 grid layout also complements the fence-inspired grid system used throughout the designs, creating a consistent visual structure that ties the entire project together.
